The first edition of the Great Northern Ontario Conference for Healthcare Professionals is held in Killarney, Ontario, October 13-14, 2022. Leaders in the legal and healthcare industry are invited to gather and discuss topics covering strategies in mental health, mobility impairments, and brain injury. MEA Forensic’s Principal and Senior Biomechanical Engineer, Dr. Benjamin Elkin, will present on the biomechanics of brain injury. The event is launched by Oatley Vigmond LLP.
The theme of this first edition is Strategies in Trauma Rehabilitation. The conference will cover 3 tracks over two days: Brain Injury, Accessibility, and Mental Health & Awareness. Ben Elkin’s presentation will contribute to the objective of the brain injury track, which is to better understand brain injury, and work together to restore function. Following the brain injury section, presenters will cover advances in prosthetic rehabilitation, and the promotion of patients’ independence following a spinal cord injury.
The second day will start with a keynote address on Innovations in Virtual Rehabilitation delivered by Dr. Mark Bayley, Program Medical Director and Physiatrist-in-Chief at UHN-Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
