This November, the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association (ACTLA) has invited our expert in slips, trips and falls, Dennis Chimich, to participate in their first Experts’ Week Lunch ‘N’ Learn Series. In a virtual session presented November 27th, Dennis will discuss how slips, trips and falls occur, focusing on the motion of the body and the forces acting on the body in these events.
Attendees will learn how experts can determine injury causation, and evaluate the consistency of an injury with a given event. Dennis will also demonstrate how he measures and interpret the slip resistance of a walking surface, and discuss the scene and pedestrian factors that may influence slip risk. Lastly, the presentation will cover building code compliance investigations in level walking and stair investigations, and the process of assessing code compliance or non-compliance with respect to injury causation.
