The presenters – Pedestrian Accidents

Mr. Ross Hunter has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Davis and Irvine. Ross worked in MEA’s Collision Reconstruction group before earning his Master’s degree. Now an expert in injury biomechanics with over a decade of experience investigating motor vehicle collisions, he has a foot in both world: he can reconstruct collisions based on the physical evidence, and assess the potential for injury for vehicle occupants and pedestrians involved in accidents.

A human factors specialist, Ms. Pamela D'Addario assesses the behavior of individuals to determine how their action, or lack of action, could have contributed to a collision or injury-causing event. As a senior engineer and a member of the Human Factors group in MEA Forensic’s Toronto office, Pamela investigates vehicle collisions: assessing issues such as collision severity, collision sequence, vehicle speed, avoidance potential, nighttime visibility, and driver response times.

Mr. Kurt Ising leads the firm’s research into how drivers, riders and pedestrians detect, perceive and respond to hazards. Kurt’s interest in human factors started with research into how far away drivers can see pedestrians at night. He developed a method for measuring light levels at an accident location and objectively assessing driver visual performance. Since then, he has published peer-reviewed research on nighttime visibility, perception-response time and the effects of driver distraction.
