Dr. Stephanie Bonin investigates injury causation in all sorts of events. In addition to her years of investigating injuries, Stephanie has experience working as an ergonomic engineer, in a clinical gait lab, and in the safety restraint industry. Her PhD work focused on head injury potential and the effectiveness of motorcycle helmets. An avid equestrian, she has a particular interest in equestrian sports injuries, and currently chairs the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Equestrian Helmet Task Group.

Dr. Ben Elkin routinely assesses the causal relationship between an event and an injury by comparing forces applied to the body to the mechanism and threshold for injury. Ben’s background extends from head to toe. During his PhD, he tested brain tissue to estimate how it would respond to a head impact. And Ben currently chairs the ASTM F13.40 Research Subcommittee on Pedestrian/Walkway Safety and Footwear where he continues to help improve the way floor-friction measurements are made.

Dennis Chimich has worked on thousands of cases in his forensic career, investigating how injuries happen in vehicle collisions, slips and falls, product failures, and sporting events, and has testified as an expert witness in court many times. Dennis is involved in MEA’s on-going research into the accuracy of devices (called tribometers) that are used to measure friction when investigating slip and fall incidents. He has also been involved in studies of helmet impact performance, whiplash, occupant kinematics, and knee injury biomechanics.
