Montse Castel

Montse Castel is an Engineering Associate in MEA Forensic’s Collision Reconstruction group, based in Los Angeles, California. She assists with the investigation and reconstruction of motor vehicle collisions involving passenger vehicles, pedestrians, and heavy vehicles. Her work includes conducting scene and vehicle examinations, analyzing event data recorder (EDR) information, performing 3D laser scans, developing computer-based collision reconstructions.

Montse earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Cum Laude, from San Diego State University. During her studies, she gained hands-on engineering experience through undergraduate research and engineering design projects. Those experiences sparked an interest in understanding the engineering principles behind analytical methods, an interest she continues to develop in collision reconstruction.

Montse builds a strong technical foundation for her analysis. She reviews engineering literature and published research to understand the available analytical methods, the principles behind them, the assumptions they rely upon, and the conditions in which they are most appropriately applied. As she explains, “I recognize that my work has real-life impact, so I provide informed, objective, and well-supported engineering opinions while acknowledging the limitations that may exist within my analysis. To me, this is what it means to Let the Evidence Speak.”
