Steven Young is a Project Engineer in the Collision Reconstruction group of MEA Forensic’s Los Angeles office. He investigates accidents ranging from rear-enders, intersection crashes, traffic light disputes, and even pedestrian collisions.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Irvine. “What I learned about research in school has transferred into my role at MEA. Testing hypotheses, citing scientific literature, and analyzing evidence – it all translates very well.” Steven has quickly become involved in research at MEA. He was the lead author of a study that looked into how braking decreases the height of a car’s front bumper, an issue that comes up when assessing bumper alignment in a collision.

In addition to applying fundamental physics principles to the accidents that he investigates, Steven uses specialized computer software to simulate events, interrogate video and download black box data from cars. He has quickly become a valuable member of the team. “I enjoy balancing priorities and deadlines, and working on a mission to be impartial and to ‘let the evidence speak’.”
