The Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association presents “Behind the Curtain of Civil Litigation”, an educational webinar for junior lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants working in civil litigation, on October 29th, 2020. MEA’s Dennis and Marcia always look forward to their annual October trip to Alberta to attend and support ACTLA’s Seminars and are glad to be supporting this year’s virtual edition as sponsors.
The program includes a presentation on drafting pleadings, by Kevin Madison of McLennan Ross LLP, and on document production: AOR’s and answers to undertakings by Mark Smith of Smith Thompson Law LLP. The attendees will also receive advice on how to deal with difficult conversations and difficult people, and how to avoid phone calls that last forever. The program is available on ACTLA’s website.
The Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association (ACTLA) was founded in the Spring of 1986 as a non-profit society dedicated to the objectives of advancing the science of Jurisprudence, training in all fields and phases of Advocacy, upholding the honour and dignity of the profession of Law, encouraging brotherhood and sisterhood among the members of the bar, upholding and improving the adversary system and trial by jury, and promoting the administration of justice and the public good. Its mission is to advocate for a strong civil justice system that protects the rights of all Albertans.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to putting on additional complimentary seminars on topics specific to running a civil litigation practice in the face of COVID, ACTLA is taking steps to ensure that previously planned seminars can proceed in a way that follows the ban on large gatherings and social distancing recommendations.
