The Southern California Fraud Investigators’ Association presents its 43rd Anti-Fraud Conference on November 8-9, 2021. Cole Young, our expert in collision reconstruction and video analysis, will present on video analysis evidence for insurance fraud investigators on Tuesday morning, at 8:00 AM.
Cole is a certified forensic video technician with over 160 hours of video-specific training provided by the Law Enforcement & Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA). As a member of our Collision Reconstruction group in Los Angeles, Cole can extract a wealth of information from security cameras, dashcams, and cell phone videos. He has also developed methods to determine the precise position of evidence at an accident scene from photographs and 2D images.
The insurance fraud investigators who will attend the course will learn how experts can break down video frame by frame to dive deeper into the sequence of events, and quantify speeds in crashes where it may not be obvious. After all, not all aftermarket dashcams, or video event recorders, can report speeds accurately in crash situations; It’s important to know when and why they aren’t. Other times, the video produced in a case isn’t the original and is missing valuable metadata that is useful in analysis.
