Engineers from around the world gather in Detroit each April for the Society of Automotive Engineers’ World Congress (SAE WCX), the largest technical mobility event in North America. This year, MEA Forensic engineers Ian Miller, Gabrielle Booth, Tom Flynn, and Cole Young will present their latest research at SAE WCX 2025.
All four presentations are part of the Technical Sessions section focused on studying ADAS systems in modern automobiles; new methods for analyzing pedestrian collisions, tire forces in low speed collisions and roll-over incidents; and simulating motorcycle motion in PC Crash. Within that category, their research will be featured in the following subsections:
Tuesday, April 8
In the Accident Reconstruction: EDR and Vehicle Dynamics Testing session, Ian Miller will present Decelerations for Vehicles with Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS) during Wet-to-Dry Transitions on Asphalt and Concrete Road Surfaces at 3:00 pm.
Wednesday, April 9
In the Accident Reconstruction: Simulation, Mobile Device Data Acquisition and Bicycle Collisions session, Gabrielle Booth will present Quantifying the Uncertainty in Bicycle-Computer Speed Measurements at 2:30 pm.
Thursday, April 10
In the Accident Reconstruction: Video Analysis session, Tom Flynn will present The Accuracy of Vehicle Speeds, Decelerations, and Brake Onset Times Calculated from Onboard Dash Cameras at 1:30 pm. He will be followed by Cole Young, presenting The Effect of Tracker and Control Point Distributions on Vehicle Position and Speed Estimates from Dash Camera Video at 2:00 pm.
