Lyndsay Scott was invited to speak at the University of British Columbia’s Master of Food and Resource Economics (MFRE) Industry Insights Series on February 14, 2025. A Project Coordinator at MEA Forensic, Lyndsay is also the founder and president of Kindred Cultures, a local kefir-based drink company, and a former director of the BC Food & Beverage Association Board. She was invited to share insights from the food industry and her company’s journey from startup to growth and expansion.
The MFRE program is a one-year, course-based master’s program that aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to address real-world challenges related to climate, food, and the environment. The Industry Insights Series connects students with professionals from diverse sectors, providing firsthand insights into industry trends and career pathways. This year’s cohort of 35 students comes from around the globe, with backgrounds in environment, finance, and economics. Kindred has hosted numerous practicum students from the MFRE program through the years and hired one of their students in 2022 as its resident food scientist. Lyndsay’s insights can offer valuable perspectives on the intersection of business growth and the food industry, and practical applications of their studies. The MFRE Industry Insights series is open to the public. It is held in room 1001 of UBC’s Forest Sciences Centre, starting at 3 PM. A map is available online.
