William Zollinger

William Zollinger is a mapping technician in MEA Forensic’s California office. A specialist in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) mapping, he flies MEA’s drone and combines aerial images and lidar data into high-resolution ortho-mosaics and 3D models. “I can document an entire accident scene in a relatively short amount of time,” he says “and I can map specific areas, like a street corner, or a golf hole.”

Bill holds an FAA drone license and enjoys the challenges of collecting and analyzing drone data. “Drones are useful tools in the legal and insurance industries, from video flythroughs to unique aerial perspectives. Trial exhibits are visually appealing and easier to understand when they are based on drone imagery and data.”

The Pittsburgh native holds a Bachelors of Arts from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Non-profit Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He has an undying love for the arts and finds his mapping work an unexpected outlet for his creativity. “You wouldn’t think so, but mapping is truly creative work. Based on data, I am drawing illustrations, creating graphics, and it’s thrilling. I couldn’t dream of a better career.”
