Messrob Torikian
BS MFA EITEngineering Associate
Messrob Torikian brings a unique combination of engineering training and visual effects expertise to his role as an Engineering Associate at MEA Forensic. He supports MEA’s engineers and scientists through laser scanning, camera tracking, 3D-model building, motion capture, technical photography, drone-based reality capture, and animation.
Messrob earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, before returning to school to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Communication Arts at Loyola Marymount University. Shortly after graduating, he joined a visual effects team, beginning a career in the film industry that would span more than 25 years.
While visual effects is often perceived as a creative field, Messrob specialized in the technical discipline of 3D tracking, where real cameras, objects, and movement are recreated with precision inside a digital environment. “We relied on measurements, photographs, scans and survey data to build accurate digital representations of physical environments for film,” he explains. “Today, I get to use those same skills I developed over the last two decades to help answer real-world questions that matter to real people, which makes the work especially meaningful.”
