Mr. Robert Mordecai is a technologist at MEA Forensic with expertise in geomatics — the art and science of measuring, storing, managing, and presenting geospatial data. From the firm’s Los Angeles office, he assists the forensic engineers with drafting, photogrammetry, video analysis, and site inspections. A 3D laser scan is conducted at most vehicle and site inspections. Using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) systems, Robert creates 3D models from the scans. “I help turn data into accurate and compelling graphical representations,” explains Robert.
One of Robert’s objectives is to make it easier for engineers to locate and sort the information they need. Using his skills as a programmer, he creates scripts for parsing data which decrease the time needed to get the work done.
Robert has a Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics from San Diego State University and has worked in the field of geographic information systems (GIS) for a telecom infrastructure company and on Apple Computer’s iMaps program. While at MEA he has obtained certification from the Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA) in forensic video analysis.
At MEA, Robert enjoys being an expert among experts: “Everyone here is a specialist who brings something unique. That’s pretty exciting.”
