Nikolas Arnold
BAScEngineering Associate
Nikolas Arnold is an Engineering Associate in MEA Forensic’s Collision Reconstruction group in Toronto, and investigates accidents involving cars, trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles. He routinely examines damaged vehicles, downloading crash data and conducting laser scans. Nik also holds a Transport Canada drone license, enabling him to survey accident locations from the air and collect 3D measurements efficiently. This aerial perspective provides a more comprehensive understanding of the local geography than traditional on-the-ground methods.
Nik holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University and has hands-on experience in design and testing. His academic training and practical skills help him reconstruct accidents from the analysis of physical evidence such as tire marks, gouges, or scattered debris, in combination with electronic crash data, or video footage. As every case presents unique challenges, he takes satisfaction in providing clear answers to complex questions.
Nik’s passion for vehicle safety and crash reconstruction began at an early age. “At 12 or 13 years old, I was already interested in what I now know is forensic engineering,” he recalls. “I remember researching crash tests and safety ratings for new family vehicles. I never met anyone else my age who was interested in these things,” he laughs. “But I found it cool and exciting. I remember wanting to be the person setting up the crash tests and analyzing the data one day.” At MEA Forensic, Nik seizes the opportunity to delve back into this early interest, combining engineering expertise with his enthusiasm for testing and analysis.
