MEA Forensic attends the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA) Bench & Bar Columbus Day Golf Tournament in Laguna Niguel, CA.

MEA Forensic Engineers & Scientists welcomes Dr. Ben Elkin, who joins biomechanics group in the Toronto office.  Ben has a Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University, with a focus on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).   Prior to joining MEA, Ben worked as a consultant to the U.S. military on mechanisms of injury, technologies and clinical treatments for traumatic brain injury.  He has published extensively in the field of neurotrauma, and has designed, manufactured and tested an implantable pressure regulating valve for the eye to treat medically intractable glaucoma.
 
We also welcome Tom Flynn, EIT, who joins our Transportation group in Toronto.   Tom has an undergraduate degree in mathematics and engineering, as well as a Masters degree in articular cartilage development in children from Queen’s University.  Previously, Tom worked as a product support engineer in the prosthetics & orthotics industry.

MEA Forensic exhibits at the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles Convention (CAALA), September 6-9. David King, Principal, Senior Engineer presented at the convention and participated in a mock trial.

MEA Forensic Engineers & Scientists welcomes Tom Klement, PEng, as our Senior Road Engineer.  Mr Klement received his BSc. in Civil Engineering in 1971, followed by his MSc. in Concrete Structures and Technology in 1972.  For over 30 years Mr Klement worked for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario in various capacities, such as Highway Design & Planning, Materials Research, and Safety Research.  Tom now conducts technical investigations involving roadside safety, highway design standards and road conditions.

Alyssa DeMarco presents, "Bicycle Helmet Performance Over a Wide Range of Impact Speeds" and "Booster Seats and Upper Neck Tension in Children" at the Canadian Society of Biomechanics Conference June 7-9 in Vancouver, BCGunter Siegmund will be chairing a session entitled "Forensic Biomechanics" at 10:45 a.m. on June 9th.

Research into the whiplash protection will be presented at the AUTO21 Annual Conference in Montreal, QC from May 29-31, 2012. The research is a collaboration between MEA Forensic, the UBC Department of Mechanical Engineering and the UBC School of Kinesiology. The research is funded by an AUTO21 grant.
