Donate Your Used Helmets to Science
The next phase of MEA Forensic's helmet research is focused on the impact performance of used/old helmets. For this new study, we need your old and used helmets. If you are interested in donating helmets, please refer to our helmet testing research page.
Manufacturers variously suggest that non-crashed helmets be replaced after 3 to 8 years; however, there are currently no scientific data showing that a helmet’s impact protection degrades over this time period. We plan to test a wide range of used/old helmets to determine how impact performance changes with use/time. This information will help provide a scientific basis for helmet longevity.
If you would like to donate your used bicycle, hockey, ski, snowboard and skateboard helmets, please contact us at helmets@meaforensic.com.
